Association as per Section of the Foreign Contribution means an association of individuals whether incorporated or not having an office in India and includes a society, whether NGO registered under the Societies Registrations Act and any other organization by whatever name called.

Two or more persons can form an association by resolving to act as an association. The following forms of associations are recognized in law of any article not being an article given to a person as a gift for his personal use if the market value in India, of such article, on the date of such gift does not exceed one thousand rupees of any currency whether Indian or foreign of any foreign security as defined in clause of the Foreign Exchange NGO Management Act.

A donation delivery or transfer of any article, currency or foreign security referred to in this clause by any person who has received it from any foreign source either directly or through one or more persons shall also be deemed to be foreign contribution within the meaning of this clause.

1.) To develop an understanding in the community of the role of the NGO sector in civil society or obtain a ngo registration.

2.) To educate the community about sustainable development, environmental, social and cultural issues to promote a better understanding of these issues.

3.) To commission research on the role and function of the NGO sector in civil society on behalf of members and to distribute and stimulate debate on the results of such research.

4.) To commission research into sustainable development and global environmental and social issues and to publicize and disseminate the results of such research.

5.) To facilitate collaboration between the NGO sector, government and the business sector in addressing areas of concern.

6.) To support the members in their work to eradicate poverty.

7.) To promote and educate members on the use of best practice for administration, management, and governance within the NGO sector.

8.) To provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information and to provide support for non-governmental, voluntary or community organizations and forming own ngo along with trust registration.

9.) To hold meetings, training sessions for members and the sector generally.

II.) Definitions.- In this Act, unless the context requires.

(a) “association” means an association of individuals incorporated or not, having an office in India and society, whether registered under the Societies.

(b) Act, 1860 (21 of 1860), or not, and any other organize whatever the name called.
